TrailBraker ATD Basics:
1. The ATD is a permanently-installed semi-trailer anti-theft device that prevents any unauthorized attempt to couple a truck-tractor to a semi-trailer.
2. The device is located in the trailer's bolster plate, slightly ahead of, and to one side of the kingpin within a 12" radius.
3. (left) When the tractor is uncoupled, a steel half-ball is forced downward from its housing in the bolster plate to protrude below the plate by approximately 1-1/2" where it is locked in place. In this position, it acts as a stand-off device - no 5th wheel can successfully lock onto the kingpin because the half-ball causes the trailer to be lifted up and away from the kingpin locks.
4. (right) When the lock is released (via satellite signal, rolling code transmitter, key or any other optional means) the half-ball is pushed back up into its housing as the 5th wheel slides toward the kingpin, allowing a successful coupling to the kingpin.
5. The ATD requires absolutely no action on the part of an operator to activate. The ATD securely locks itself as soon as the tractor pulls away from the kingpin!
6. Control of the release procedure is most secure when handled remotely by satellite. An authorized operator arrives at the trailer's site, prepares for the tractor-to-trailer coupling (5th wheel positioned properly and supporting some of the trailer's load, air & power lines connected) and contacts security control. A transmitted code releases the lock. The operator has only minutes to complete the coupling before the device re-arms.
