2.  Skirt Nut® must be installed using standard industry recommended procedures, including cross-sequence tightening in multiple stages until desired torque level is achieved.

Skirt Nuts® are recommended for all applications where hub-piloted disk wheels using 22mm studs are specified, subject to these conditions:
6.  Skirt Nut® is recommended for some off-road loader and heavy equipment applications using 22mm flange nuts provided the wheels' stud holes are not counter-bored or chamfered.
1.  Skirt Nut® is a 22mm safety flange nut for hub-piloted disc wheels onlyIt must not be used on Budd-style wheels!  Skirt Nut must be used on all stud positions to ensure that excessive disc flexing and the resulting tire wear is eliminated.  Properly installed, Skirt Nut® has an 8 year warranty and comes with a $1 million Liability policy to protect truck operators.

3.  Skirt Nut® are designed to operate safely when torqued to the standards of SAE J1965, which is 370 - 500 ft/lbs. Industry-recommended torque setting is 450 - 500 ft/lbs.
An initial re-torque after installation of any flange nut is recommended.  This is primarily to ensure that any decay in torque value due to changes to the grip length of the bolted joint caused by joint settling is restored to desired levels.
4.  A Skirt Nut® must be installed on each stud in an assembly.  This is to prevent an over-torque situation on the Skirt Nut-equipped studs when the standard flange nuts begin to work loose.  Both the 8-year guarantee and the Liability Policy provided by Safety Trigo. Inc. apply only when Skirt Nuts are properly installed.  Skirt Nut is not intended for use solely as a wheel-centering device - its primary function is a safety wheel fastener.  Never mix fastener types on any wheel.
Skirt Nut® is particularly suitable for applications considered to be severe service.  These include gravel and cement truck service, wide axle-spread trailers, waste packers and transfer vehicles and all 'super single' applications, particularly those experiencing severe vibrations, premature tire wear or repeated torque loss on wheel nuts.
